cedwards Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 First of all I would like to say that I'm a noob when it comes to dynamic blocks but I'm studying anything I can get my hands on. Now to my problem. I have block with different visibility states and an alignment parameter. The block has an attribute centered in the middle and everything works great about the block except that the attributes does not stay horizontal upon insertion. It rotates with the alignment point. How can I keep the attribute to stay horizontal(not to move). I have attached the block along with a pdf to show the outcome that I'm hoping to achieve. Any help would be greatly appreciated! dbroada Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I don't think you can. I have never used an alignment parameter but from the help files it would appear that you can only align the whole block. A bit more work but can you use a rotate action on all but the attribute instead? Quote
qball Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I did an internet search. The other Cad forum had a similar question and it seems that you can't keep just the text horizontal with the Alignment Parameter. You could use a Rotation Parameter instead. I added the Alignment Parameter to a bunch of blocks and ended up taking them off again. It's too finicky with what side to approach from and with other objects around. Quote
cedwards Posted May 25, 2011 Author Posted May 25, 2011 Well if the alignment parameter is not the way to go what about adding 3 points(not including basepoint), one to each side of the square with an "F" in it. By adding the 3 points now I can just hit the ctrl key and toggle to all sides of the block(solves alignment problem). But how would I rotate the remaining objects based on what point was selected for insertion? See attached block with points added and alignment parameter removed. 1C13CA.zip Quote
qball Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I don't really have a faster solution. I agree with what you wanted to do. If the Align had a selection set so you could exclude the F then it would be really good. Seems you probably just need a Rotation parameter and leave the F out. Maybe a Flip parameter too. Quote
SLW210 Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Try the Weld Symbol DB on the Mechanical Tool Palette. It is similar.... Quote
