Buggsy Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 I have run across this old duct software program which is a directory of lisp files that will tag each piece of duct, do take offs, and I think if I read some of these files correctly, it will estimate also. My quetion is, does anyone out there know anything about this or have any experience with this? Quote
MarcoW Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 I'd google a bit and see what you can find. Looks to me as if it is no freeware. In that case I'd take a look at www.ductisoft.com but decide for yourself. Quote
Buggsy Posted May 30, 2011 Author Posted May 30, 2011 The software is old enough to be for dos versions I think and I've searched the internet and have came up with sites that you have pointed out. I have an email into the one site that is the closest related but haven't herd from them yet. I got the fealing that this program is no longer on the market. The original company was in North Carolina and I think the owner has past on from the info that I have reserched with. just trying to find out if the original company still exists and or if someone else has bought the rights to it. Let me know if anyone has more info please. Quote
wnelson Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Yes, the company i worked for purchased the software in 1989. The fittings were not exactly drawn to tou companies standards, so we purchased the source files an I modified the LISP to parametrically draw the fitting to our standards. you are right, the software will draw and estimate, but the estimate portion was very cumbersome, and we soon abandoned this feature. We were an industrial blow pipe shop and the software was the only decent 2d package available and still is to my knowledge. I have tried to look for updated versions, but found that the software is no longer supported. I still use use many of the parametric routines today, but have had to modify them for the newer versions of AutoAad over the years. I don't have the original files any more, but the developer was a round duct wizard in the industry. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. Quote
