Im in high school, I have a vast knowledge of AutoCad 2010-2012 and 3DS Max 2012.

The Engineering and Animation Program in my school employs about 80+ Hp z400 Workstations. The problem is Our school district doesnt hire good Technicians or people who know about the software so we dont have Back burner setup.

In my class there are only 2 people who are actually good with 3ds Max.

I work well in Rigging and photorealistic renderings of architecture and products. The other student is suited for game design. and the rest of my class spends the whole period listening to music or browsing failblog. :glare:

i dont know who to contact to see if they could set up backburner to kill my 4 hour renders  im hoping to get the school to setup backburner.

Its funny though our workstations only have like 3.46 gb of ram and when i tried to render a photorealistic scene on the workstation it crashed. On the other hand i have an hp dv7 with a core i7 720, 4gb of ram, and a 1gb ati 5650 hd graphics, that can handle the render without crashing :glare:

Go first to the department head. He/she, in turn, would have to speak to the principal who would then contact the person directly responsible for the setup and administration of the school district's computers. Don't expect a quick response. School systems are notoriously slow responding to anything and in this time of tight budgets and possible layoffs your request will not be a high priority.

Leech the CPU power of the other class computers, they'll never know

How do you want to render farm? There's 2 basic ways, the 1st is reasonably easy - but the 2nd would require some extra addons for 3ds.

1. Have each PC render a frame. You probably already know how to do this, since you're referring to BackBurner.

2. Have multiple PCs render together on one single frame. For this we use VRay (there's others as well) - though it's not free / cheap, I don't know if they have some edu-discounts or such.
