Hey all! I finally took a stab at making my own website and I'm having a problem getting my feedback for to send the feedback to me via email. I'm making the webpage with Microsoft Frontpage. If you want to have a look at the site here's the url... www.mgoodarchitectural.co.nr
Any suggestions that you might have for me would be greatly appreciated. Just a reminder that the site isn't done...I think that I'm going to add a "CAD Corner" or something like that with a monthly tutorial or tips (which I may ask you guys to help out with! ).
Let me know what you think!
Thanks guys!
Mike

Hi good_m

Well done for setting up the website, I did a site a few years ago using frontpage my self and had good fun doing it.
Just one thing that would make your site a little better, is to play around the blue text and in some cases the white text as its hard on the eye to read some times,
I think the background might be to blame on this matter but other than that thumbs up. Nice 1 :)

Hey deelay!
Thanks or the kind words about the site. It's the first one that I've ever made and to be totally frank with you I had no idea what I was doing when I started it! haha I totally understand what you're saying about the background/text colour. I was thinking about that when I was doing the site and I couldn't figure out what to do about it. The reason that I kept the back ground is because I really liked the look of it. Do you have any suggestions on what to do about it?
Any auggestions by anyone would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Mike

There is a way to stop the background wallpaper from scrolling, it stays in the same place and your text glides over the top of the background, Been along time since I used frontpage but the this a button to press to keep the backgrond from scrolling.

Re: Your new website.

The dark colored text, both the blue and the plum (deep magenta?) tend to get lost in the black background with the grayish "G". Still difficult to read in some instances.

The Firm Profile, specifically the section regarding experience, fails to give the visitor any hard evidence of the number of years you have been "in the field" nor does it mention the names of firms you worked for. Will you be providing this type of information? How long has M. Good Architectural Design been in business? Will there be a list of references provided for the potential customer somewhere on the site?

Regarding projects you have worked on, specifically the Mike Dubecki home, did you happen to notice that the 3D rendering (middle image) has the main entry door on the left and the garage to the right. However, the other two images (3D X-ray rendering and photo of finished product) are just the reverse of this.

I mention the above in the spirit of CONSTRUCTIVE criticism and NOT as an insult of any kind what-so-ever. I barely have the talent(?) enough to type this without too many errors, let alone the talent, as you have, for designing a website. I wish you every success in your endeavors.

ReMark,
Thanks so much for all the constructive criticism. I didn't take any offence to any of it. I appreciate every little bit that people tell me about it and what I can do to improve it. As far as the experience and all that goes I still have finished all of the site. I still have a lot of work to do. This site was the first site that I've ever done and I just wanted to see that it would look like.
Again, I appreciate your words of wisdom and I appreciate the kind words that you added in there at the end.

Is a good Web building resource. They have tons of reviews and sites to learn from. Some of the reviewers like a bit more high tech than is my taste but it can be enlighting as to what is out there. -David

Mike, that's good for a first effort in web design. You could easily improve the entire site by removing the background image. I found most of the text very hard to read over the image. Also, do you really need a splash page at the front end?

What software are you using to develop this site or are you hand coding?

I haven't really had a whole lot of a chance to change the back ground yet. I'm going to be working on it a little more tonight. I'm going to look for a new background for it...something nice and simple be still somewhat elegant. I really like just the horizontal lines in the back ground of this page. something like that but darker. The program that I'm using is Microsoft Frontpage. I've never made a website before. I figured that I would just try my hand at it. I'm fairly happy with it so far since I've had no real training on building a website. As far as the front splash page I jst made the gif because I thought that it was kind of "neat". Thanks for the feed back though!
