I've just completed the first module of the new CADTutor site. This is a web links module that will allow users of the CADTutor site to add useful links and to rate existing ones.
If you have a few minutes to spare, I'd be grateful if you could visit the site here (http://www.cadtutor.biz/links/). Maybe have a go at adding a link and let me know what you think.
Any suggestions for improvement would be welcome.
Thanks

After you rate a page, it would be nice to have a link to go back to the list at the prior page that ou were viewing.
This will be a very heplful resource. Congratulations. -David

Thanks for the comment David. Currently there is a link to "view all links in this category" after a link has been rated and that will return you to the category page. The problem is that there are many possible routes to the rating page and there's even a possibility that changing the rating of a link will send it to a diferent page - in which case, sending you back to the page you came from might not take you back to the link. For all these resons, I decided to keep it simple so that users knew exactly where they were going.
These are the sort of things that keep me awake at night. :geek:

Well that's a very good point. In the past, I would always have done that but current web design thinking is that you should let the user decide if they want a new window since a new window is just a right-click away.
I'd be very intereseted to hear any other views on this topic.

My first instinct is to say that since they're external links, they should get a new window. Internal links don't need them, since you're not leaving the site, but I wouldn't want to be taken away from the list because I clicked on one.
