Hi Chris, welcome to the forum. I have no idea what the differences are on these two. I think that Mech. Desktop is a mostly 2D package while the other is not (maybe). Might need to go to AutoDesk's website and do some reading on them.

2nd hand software....well here's the skinny. You cannot legaly buy AutoDesk software 2nd hand (well maybe LT). It states this in the EULA. You cannot not sell their products either. Say you buy AutoCAD and then don't want it anymore, well you are stuck with it. You can destroy it or return it (no refund). But you cannot sell it. Now I believe that if you buy a company that owns copies of software then it will be transfered over to new owners but I think that is the only way.
Now saying that if you did buy a 2nd hand copy the problem is that you will not be able to get updates/upgrades for your software.
Sorry to be a killjoy but it's best to know the truth before you waste your money. Good luck and please hang around the forum. Lots of good people here. Welcome aboard :)
