I have a few drawing files of site plans in world coordinates.
When I use zoon extents it shows the site plan in "hyper space" as a small dot and nothing else around it including at 0,0.
I have tried purging all redundant layers and erasing any items around the screen away from the site plan.
Am I missing something that I cannot zoom extents closer to the actual site plan?

you have an entity that is outside of your "normal" drawing area. When acad zoomz extents it does exactly that ~ it zooms to the extents of all drawing entities.
Do a zoom extents, then erase, but deselect the "site plan in "hyper space" as a small dot", then complete the erase. You should now zoom to the extents of your drawing.

 You basically just repeated what hendie already said. Also, this post is over a year old. You should check the date before replying to old posts.
