View Full Version : why drawings open in paperspace viewport?

every time i open a drawing that was saved in the layout tab (paperspace), the drawing opens in layout tab, but the cross hairs are in the view port (model space). this is an issue when trying to run publish (AutoCAD 2006) because it won't plot the drawings. even after saving in ps and zoom extents, when the drawing is re-opened the cross hairs are in model space (in the layout tab).

any ideas on how to change this?

AutoCAD should open the drawing in the space that the drawing was saved in.

Do you know if there are any user defined LISP programs running?

What verson are you using?

i'm using AutoCAD2006 Land Desktop and straight AutoCAD2006.

there are no user defined LISP routines, that i can determine, that would be creating the problem.

the odd thing is that when the same drawing is opened in straight CAD it open in paperspace, as it was saved. but when opened in land desktop, it's in the model space in the layout tab.
i use CAD to publish the plan sheets and it stops plotting once it hits any sheet with a view port. (and i'm assuming it's because the dwg is in model space, not paper space)

It must be a LDD problem. I tested it in AutoCAD 2006. If you are in a viewport, AutoCAD will switch back to paper space to plot / publish.

When you plot and publish, AutoCAD creates a log (Detail). See the plotter icon in the lower right corner of the status bar. What is the error message in the detail?

now when i plot, the staus bar appears as if it was plotting and then CAD shuts down and only a few lines plot.

both LDD and CAD kick me out when i try to plot.
