paul1966 Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 i have been sent some borders that are drawn in model space, i want to move them to ps and save the as template's. i have tried chspace but that does not seem to work. if i start a new drawing and paste the border as a block the scaling is wrong, i can use a vp to display the border in ps and then draw a vp inside the border but don't want to do that really. any other ideas? ReMark Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 CHSPACE is the way to go. Give it another try. You can also post the drawing here and someone might give it a try. Quote
nestly Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 The methods you already tried should work. If you make it the proper size in relationship to your paper, it should insert at the proper size/scale as a block into paperspace. Copy/Paste from modelspace into paperspace is another way to accomplish the same thing. Quote
nukecad Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 ......if i start a new drawing and paste the border as a block the scaling is wrong, ....... If the borders have been drawn in modelspace then they have probably been enlarged to suit the drawing. When you paste them into paperspace you will need to magnify them back to the correct 1:1 size before saving them as templates. Quote
RobDraw Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 You need a viewport set up at the proper scale for CHSPACE to work. I think you might have missed that. Quote
ReMark Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 When it doubt post a drawing. We'll work out the details and set you straight. A drawing is worth a thousand words. Quote
paul1966 Posted July 22, 2011 Author Posted July 22, 2011 (edited) ok hopefully there is a dwg file attached saved as acad 2007 file type. i managed to get the border into paper space but the scale was way out. Edited July 24, 2011 by paul1966 removed email address Quote
nestly Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Assuming the filename indicates the papersize, your border is exactly the same size as A1 paper (841x594) so it should be a perfect fit Are you choosing the correct size paper (A1) for your paperspace layout? Quote
nestly Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 I eyeballed the start point for the viewport, but here's one way to do it using CHSPACE. IMO it's probably easier/faster to cut & paste the border from modelspace into paperspace after creating the viewport. http://www.screencast.com/t/KpQpfZEObY Quote
paul1966 Posted July 22, 2011 Author Posted July 22, 2011 thanks for that nestly, i'll have another go tomorrow. i think i went wrong by making the vp to big Quote
