Has anyone heard of or used fastcad? The main reason that I'm asking is one of my clients needs some roof deck drawings done and I don't know what file extension it uses. I was hoping that it would be compatible with autocad and if not does anyone know where I could find a converter to convert the drawings from fastcad to autocad?
Any help here would be greatly appreciated!
Mike

Go to http://www.fastcad.com to get additional information.

It appears to support DXF. Have your client export to a DXF file and AutoCAD should be able to open it.

Evolution Computing's FastCAD v7.0 saves drawings with the extension .FCW. Another product called Campaign Cartographer 2.0 uses the same drawing file format as well.

For more information about FastCAD and to research the .fcw to .dwg translation go to:

http://www.fastcad.com/n-user.shtml

Click on the link to their online user discussion groups and use the search feature at the top, right hand side of the page.

Note: If you, as an AutoCAD user, wish to share your drawings with someone using FastCAD you'll have to do a "save as" and select AutoCAD 2000/LT 2000 Drawing (.dwg).

True cross-platform compatatibility between AutoCAD and FastCAD may be forthcoming in FastCAD v8. Until that time I'd recommend saving drawings in .dwf format if you wish to share drawings between the two programs. Again, make that the AutoCAD 2000 .dxf file format.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the replies. What I ended up doing is downloaded the 14 free trial and exported the files to dwg which version 7.2 (at least I think that it was 7.2) will export to and then opened it in autocad.
Thanks again for the replies!
