Now that Autodesk has the rights to this software I'm dealing with a few people that are using it and was wondering what any users around here using it thought of it.

So now Al Gore has his own software? :facepalm:
I do not use FEA, but I get Machine Design (http://machinedesign.com/?p=1) magazine and they have reviews and examples of Algor and other FEA from time to time.

Why do we need an Al Gore simulator? I thought the original was plenty. Way more than we needed in fact. Of course, if not for him, we wouldn't be enjoying this pleasant conversation!

FEA = Finite Element Analysis

was suppose to be FEA lol stands for finite element analysis, used in calculating stresses in components and what nots.
don't know if he still has the beard but he did rock it out for a while ...

Oh, gotcha. No, I don't do that. I leave that for the engineers. I just draw the stuff.
Looked the beard up....the only thing i could think of to say was "hmmmm...."

I use Stand7 occasionally although not that often. Never even heard of Algor Simulator before.

mind if I ask how much you paid for it, I did a search and found some interesting stuff on strand7 but no prices .....

I usually use a hydraulic press for FEA. ;) Harbor Frieght and Northern tools have some good prices. :thumbsup:

I've heard of others using harbor freight but not the others, how cost effecient are they SLW?

mind if I ask how much you paid for it, I did a search and found some interesting stuff on strand7 but no prices .....
I'm not sure exactly, although it is a few thousand per license.

i know algor for a long, now [a year half polish programming half french gui] autodesk has broght robot millennium (struct suite), small bros. ANSYS big bro.
