In my work, I make Layouts so all I have to do to print one is to right-click on it and go to plot. I am using 2000i LT at work.

Now I know later versions of AutoCAD, in your page setup, you can just choose "Default Windows System Printer" and then it should work regardless of what computer you're on.

But with 2000i LT, I do not know of a way to choose the system's default printer. One must be specific when specifying a printer in a layout. Does anyone know of a way to set it up in 2000i LT to assign a layout the system default printer.

Here's a simple file showing the layouts.

As you can see, I have assigned a Deskjet 6122 series, which is a network shared printer. If there was some way I could assign a default printer to the layouts, I wouldn't have to reassign a printer to a layout when changes to the network printer configuration take place.

There are actually two solutions:
1. You can set the printer you want as a default output device with your control panel. Im not sure how to do this with a networked device, but I do know it can be done.
2. Go to the tools pulldown menu. Select options. Select the plot and publish tab at the top. In the top left hand corner of the box, there should be a place for you to select a default output device.
Hope this helps!
