Can't object snap to a viewport anymore...

This is not a critical problem, infact I've already worked around it and completed the project, but I thought I would ask for future reference.

I was working on a drawing today, went to do my layout for printing, and found I couldn't "snap to" any part of the viewport windows. Normally I "snap to" the corners and midpoints to line my drawings and notes up nicely, but today it was no go. I could snap to any object inside the windows as normal but not to the windows themselves. The other strange thing was that it only happened in this one drawing, all other drawings (files) worked normally. I did run an audit which fixed two errors, closed and reopened the file, and restarted Autocad, no of which had any effect on the viewport windows.

Just for future reference, is there a setting I might have hit that would cause the viewport windows to not be snapable?

Dave,

If you could snap to things inside the viewport but not the viewport itself, you must have been in model space. Click the paper button at the bottom of the screen.

Hi there

We have had similar problems in our office with certain drawing files.

Something happens within the drawing file itself that does not allow snapping on to a viewport even in paper space.

We have been unable to resolve the problem but it only occurs occasionally.

I did double check that Ako, but in paper space I can snap to objects inside a viewport window but not the viewport itself.

It has only happened in this one drawing and with what you've said Harval I have to think it's some kind of error/corruption in the file that an audit can't fix. Thanks for verifing that I'm not the only one with this problem.

That sounds wierd. I've never come across that before. Just as a matter of interest what was the value of the tilemode variable at the time?

Spot on, can't snap to the viewport, huge problems with 2006 generally, not a happy bunny.
