redbeardcad Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 We've had a lot of storms lately. Loosing power often. Last week after one storm I restart and load ACAD 2012. It had a differant recovery message, something about fully loaded or partially loaded drawing. I just went to the FILE tab scrold down to recover and was fine. All week itwas the same and I would notice a few other things that were differant. The Express Tab Help Tab and Parametric were gone. Then the way you do a "copy with base point" was differant. It was like the older version (which I like better). We had another storm roll thru today and I restarted, loaded ACAD, and now its all back to way it was wnen we first loaded 2012. How did it operate for a week in this "differant mode" and now its back to normal. And can I get the old way of "copy with a base point" back? Quote
Squirltech Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Don't know but it sounds like you have some powerful storms up there. Hit QSAVE often. Quote
nestly Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 A different profile perhap? When you say the "Copy with basepoint" is different, do you just mean it's in a sub-menu instead of the main right-click menu. Also, buy yourself a battery backup. You can get a little one that gives you time to shut down normally for ~$50-60 at BestBuy or Staples. I won't even start a computer I care about without being on an UPS. Quote
BIGAL Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 When you have a power failure all your files are open this has can have dramatic effect on them as they are not properly closed and can be corrupted. If you look into how many are open at the time it would probably suprise you. Best is SAVE SAVE SAVE I tell my guys lunch save, site visit save and we have auto save set to about 5 mins. Any sign of thunder and lightning lets have a coffee and a team meeting to discuss the weekends football. far safer to lose 20mins than hours. Save your profile to somewhere else other than your own box. Quote
