I need to lock template drawings, what methods are there

Posted

By locking, I assume you mean you wish to prevent changes. You can mark the individual files as read only, or put them in a read only folder, or on a read only drive. That is all done through the operating system. As far as I know, Autocad doesn't have any security other than passwording a file, a method I don't recommend.

Thanks Jack. I tryed password and it got me in all sorts of trouble

Put the templates in a directory on the network that is read only access, accept for you. Your IT admin will probably need to be involved. Then path the Templates in the Support Paths in Options.

Yeah, the read only thing is the best way to go. That password thing will drive you to drinkin'.

Write protect the files, wherever they are. Nix, as Jack said, the password option.

Duh, what was that password?
