Imperial Dimensions & Text set up

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I'm doing some work for an American company but they don't have any Dim styles & associated text styles for Imperial viewports.

I'm used to working in mm not inches and have all my own dims & text styles set up for mm but none for imperial.

Does anyone have a template file which has a set of dim styles & text styles already setup for this, saves me a lot of time having to set my own up from scratch!!

I need the text size to be equivalent to 2.5mm high in each scaled vport.

Any help would be great, cheers

Have you looked at any of the AutoCAD imperial templates?

Hi Remark

Yes, i've opened up an imperial template but the only text & dim style set up is standard. I need a dim setup for each possible viewport scale, 1'=1', 3/16 etc.... I've worked with cad for 13 years and never used imperial before, ever!! Weird i know but never needed to so this is probably the only thing i'm alittle unsure of with CAD.

List all the required scales you think you would require. Maybe someone here has something they can share with you.

What fonts do you normally use?

The company i'm doing the work for use romans.

I'll have to check on my pc back at my office (working out of office today) as regards to viewport scales required, but to get a general idea, the largest building to date i've drawing is 250'x55'

cheers for the help/advice so far

Architectural drawings, plan and elevations, are commonly done at the following scales: 1/8"=1'-0" and 1/4"=1'-0". Details can be any number of scales including, but not limited to, 1/2"=1'-0", 3/4"=1'-0", 1"=1'-0", 1 1/2"=1'-0" and 3"=1'-0".
