IronHorse
To use parameters is a simple way to make rules for dimensions. But when I have an Assembly how do I get all parts in the parameters window so I can make rules between the parts? Or must I use the "rules" option instead? See attached image, I want to have rules between parts "Puck" and "Stav"
MarkFlayler
Two options: You will need to create iLogic rules for this. Or You can create a Master part that you link into each part file and make changes at that part to exact change for the design. Optional: There is a Link Parameters add in on the Autodesk Labs website that might work nicely for you. This tool will create the rules for you automatically for iLogic between components. IronHorse
Thank´s for your answer, there are actually one more option. I can use "parameters" and link to excel file. However I am little afraid to rely on external programs. iLogic was also working, I guess I need to learn how to do script here :-)
MarkFlayler
Be careful with LARGE assemblies and spreadsheet linking. Deriving in Parameters is actually a safer way to go if you are constantly changing things. Inventor will know exactly which parts are affected, but linked ipts or spreadsheets will sometimes cause ALL the file to force an update.
