How to draw line to pt vertically above certain pt?

Is there any easy way to draw a line to a point absolutely above a point vertically as shown?

In AutoCAD, it is easy to get x-coordinate of another point during drawing by using filter .x.

Is there any similar function in 3dsmax?

using the Snaps Tool

Right click this button

then Clear all check boxes and then Check only the most useful, Vertex Midpoint

also im guessing your new to Max so if you have not already.. go to Customize then click on Units setup and adjust to your preference

before, i misunderstood that "snap with vertex on" will make the target point at the vertex.

Now, click the start point, holding [shift], and snap to vertex of another line, the line can be drawn with same x-coordinate.
