Does anyone ever find that if you have your mouse wheel configured to zoom in and out, that sometimes whilezooming it wont completely zoom out?The way around this is to zoom extents, all or use a zoom window.I've just been wondering why I can't always zoom out as far as I wnat. :?

Maybe :) .So if a drawing is actually bigger than the limits, would this happen?

I assume so.
I've noticed in some older drawings that have had the limits set, if I try to insert a block and it's outside the limits, Acad won't let me place the block. I have to draw a line which exceeds the current limits before I can insert the block. so I guess it's sort of the same thing

Another weird one is if you zoom out of a drawing that has alot hatching, usually originally created in Microstaion. The dam thing freezes up and crashes.I usually have to freeze some of the hatches to make it more stable.

I've noticed issues with zooming in and out with the mouse wheel too. In fact I just posted something recently about that.
I've found that if you hold down the control key while zooming though, it will zoom in and out fine - unless that is you are trying to zoom out beyond the dimensions of your workable area. But if you start with a blank page, there should be no workable area definition yet. But still you'll find issues with the wheel. It is useful but buggy.

Here is the solution that works for me
To run the troubleshooter:
Ensure that AutoCAD® software or AutoCAD LT® software is running.
In Windows® Control Panel, open the Mouse item.
In the Mouse Properties dialog box, Wheel tab, click Troubleshooter.
In the Troubleshooter dialog box, click Next until the Select Application dialog box is displayed.
In the Select Application dialog box, select AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT, and then click OK. The troubleshooter runs and tries to correctly set up AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT to use the mouse wheel. Note that you may need to install the latest IntelliMouse driver to have the Troubleshooter option.

I was having a similar promlem in that the wheel worked for zooming occasionally but when I switched to a different program like word or internet explorer, and then switched back, the wheel started scrolling instead of zooming!
I fixed the problem by going into the wheel tab in Microsoft mouse, as above, but clicking the "advanced" button below the "troubleshooter" one. this brings up a list of programs that Intellipoint support was disabled for and guess what... AutoCAD was on it! Highlighted AutoCAD and clicked remove....now no more problem!
Hope this helps!

I used to find that any sort of zooming used to make my ACAD or 3D Viz crash.... then I got some more memory installed and now I'm cooking on gas. :D
I've only recently started using a mouse with a scrolly zoomy inny outy wheel & I think they're great fun!!
Happy Zoomin'

I've found that 2000i crashes if I highlight a line and pick it by its grip then spin the wheel it crashes :? Usually the drawing won't zoom all the way out if I've been working on fine detail then spin out...you have to regen, then spin again! Tedious :)

A lot of these problems are due to poor driver software rather than acad.
Such as a poor video driver or out of date driver.
I don't have problems now with XP pro  and only programs designed for XP such as 2004 and Inventor 7, Corel 11 etc.
The only program that crashes is IE 6 !
But a workaround is to type the command STATUS. This lists a load of data such as video ram free etc. This may pick up some facts for you. Also turning off a Virus scanner may help. ANd MS Office file indexer can hog resources too.

Use regen (or was it regenall) command.
Acad use 'z command for mouse wheel and take new pic from somekind "piclist" and when the list is full you must make a new one from database by regen command.
Something that way,but its Acad property not bug.

I had the same problem. I was unable to zoom out as much as I wanted so I drew a line that was out of my screen area but still could not zoom out. I could still zoom in but not out.
I got out of it by pushing the wheel in by accident and everything was fine after that.
It seems to be worse when there's a hatch involved. Otherwise it's very minor.
I have XP Pro and tons of memory here at work. I'm running ACAD 2005 LT.

REGENALL seems to work all the time.
