How to insert 3D model from AutoCAD into Inventor?

I am a bit lost getting a 3D model made in AutoCAD into Inventor to animate. Any tips? Both are 2012 edition. FYI, I am completely new in Inventor and needing to take a crash course within 2 weeks. Thanks for the help!

I usually 'export' the AutoCAD model as a .sat file. Then drag and drop into Inventor.

"AutoCAD into Inventor to animate"

No idea  I never got around to playing with 'studio', I render my parts for the front page of a file and that's about it!

There is no need to export the dwg as *.sat.

Inventor will open dwg files directly.

File Open>

Select the file and click Options

Set to Import (you can set this as your default in your Application Options).

I really don't like doing it that way, it's a personal preference thing for me. If I want to take one model from a .dwg file to use in an Inventor assembly I don't like to faff about importing, I save as a .sat file and throw it in there.
