What Whats the difference between the locked and unlocked version?
dunno about the service packs but the "Locked" version is the one that uses a Dongle like wot we use here in the UK. The "Unlocked" version uses a software lock.
Dongles ! ****** useless things !

<cough cough> I'm not.
I don't know why AutoDesk does that for the international users :( ,
never have figured that one out. Haven't seen a locked copy of AC since some early educational copies of r12.

I know, I think it's only in the UK and perhaps some of Europe that we still have to put up with that sort of crap

I install all service packs that come out. The Autodesk website is one place to get the patches, and here is another site:

Had a bad run-in with the hardware lock (dongle) once. When ACAD r13 first came out, I bought the student version. Me and a buddy from school decided we would split the $350 that it cost, and we would install it on both of our computers at home. We paid for it, but I used my name to get it, and when it came, it had a hardware lock. Since it could only be installed on one computer, I kept it, and had to return $175 to my buddy.
