View Full Version : Plot Preferences not "saving" anymore

Hi...
All I did was move my plotter from my local PC to the network (switched driver too) and suddenly my plot preferences are not saving when I save a drawing.

If I open a drawing, choose my plotter/paper size/limits or window/scale/ etc... then save the drawing... next time I open it I have to reset all the same parameters.

also...

I sometimes have multiple drawings on one file, for urgent jobs, and now when I set all my plot choices, and window one of the drawings and send the plot... I then have to reset all the same options just to window another drawing on the very same file !?!

This wasn't the case before.

Does anyone know what may have happened or how I can fix this?

When I go to tools/options/plotting... I do have the correct plotter set as my "default plotting device".

(AutoCAD 2000)

Thank you very much.

By the sounds of it you're plotting from model space. I would highly recommend you read up on the layout tabs and start using them. They will save you tonnes of time if you start using them.

You are correct, model space is what I use.
It's what I know, lol.

But still, this is a new issue and I'd like to get it working correctly again.

I don't know of anyway to save your plot preferences in model space as far as saving the window and such. when you use layouts you use your page setup manager to set up each layout that way the window scale ctb. file etc. is the same everytime you plot.

ok...
but for the 10+ years I've been using autocad, it has always been the case that if I choose my plotter, plot size, etc. and then save the dwg... the plot settings are saved with it.

Even when I open a drawing, select plot, then set plot size, scale, window.... and then click "plot" again... I have to reset everything again.

For years this has never been the case and I'm just trying to find out what I may have done to change this.

At the top of your plot options there is a check box
"Save changes to layout"
make sure this is checked

Another way to do it is to select previous plots as well.

Geordie... thank you!

I don't know how that came unchecked, but that was the problem.

Feel pretty dumb now though, lol.
I didn't even notice that being unchecked.

Thanks again.

Model space is classed as a layout when plotting
