I haven't done it yet, but I've been considering modifying the toolbars that are given by default in AutoCAD 2002. I mean there are just a lot of buttons I don't use nearly enough to need, and it is taking up space.

I was wondering though, if I remove a button from a specific toolbar, if I ever want the button back on that toolbar how do i get it. Do I have to know what button's macro is? Is there a "show all default toolbars menu" somewhere?

rather than deleting buttons from the "standard" toolbars, simply turn them off and create new custom toolbars. That way, if you ever feel the need to reinstate them, they are all ready for you to turn back on again.

When you right click on a toolbar and select CUSTOMISE, all the toolbars are listed and you simply check or uncheck them to make them appear.

I agree with Hendie on this. This is the 1st thing I do after a new install or upgrade. I turn off the Draw and Modify toolbars and simply create my own.

Our rule here is "never modify the standard toolbars". We create custom toolbars for everything we do here. You can save these custom toolbars and if you ever need to re-install ACAD, you don't have to re-create your goodies. If you modify the standards, you have to re-create the custom settings.

Yes I recently reinstalled my software and as I had already created my own seperate custom toolbars and menu buttons I could just put them back in my search path and reload them.If I hadnt I wouldve lost about three weeks worth of menu buttons that I'd created, that was such a relief! It the same with most things,I even keep my lisps, fonts etc away from the CAD directory and have a dedicated directory for each.I've recently started keeping a list of all my tweaks and sysem variables that I modify.I know the profile is meant to store this info, but I just want to be sure everything is how it was before.
