Can someone please tell me how I can engage the F3 toggle on and off key?. In 2005, in Options/User Preferences/Windows Standard Behaviour - there was a checkbox - Windows Accelerator Keys - that if unticked the F3 function would work.....it seems there is no checkbox for this in 2006. Help! It took me forever to find it in 2005.

F3 is the default to toggle OSNAP off and on.
Check the "F3" definition in CUI and make sure it hasn't been modified.

Thanks for your help.
It seems the default has been changed by our company and write protected...God only knows why. It was the same for AutoCad 2005, within our company, until I discovered that checkbox I was speaking of, but now it seems I'm stuck and will probably have to create something. Very frustrating!

One of the main points of many CAD management classes is "listen to your users". Maybe you can explain to your CAD management why you need F3 to toggle object snaps and maybe get some other users to buy in also.
Never hurts to start out diplomatic....

Yes...thanks I'll try.
I have mentioned it to them before...when I was struggling with it in AutoCAD2005, (but then I dropped it when I found that that checkbox worked.)
Now here I am again!
I think it's one of those things that someone came up with a few years ago and now it has stuck............and no one knows why............

type in "cui" at the command prompt and it'll spawn the cui dialog box.
then go into the "Keyboard Shortcuts" (top left) click on the arrow to drop down the "Temporary Override Keys" list down. Click on "Toggles Object Snap Mode". On the right hand side of the screen click in the area that it says "Key(s)" then click the "..." button. Now in the popup window place your cursor in the area that says "Press new shortcut key". Now press any key that you want your osnap toggle key to be. Click "Assign" it should be in the box above now. Click "ok" then click "ok" again. There...now whatever key you set is now the osnap toggle key.

that really sucks! Are you able to reassign a different function key for it?

No..I've tried that too!
It sucks all right!
I cant understand why anyone would want to remove that function.
It's very frustrating!

Well, at least the CAD management has one thing right, limited access to certain things....
I don't suppose you can copy your "network" menu, modify it as desired, then load it from a local location as the main menu?

Yes.that's true...
No I dont think so...........
modifying menus is not my forte'...but I have loaded my menu from AutoCAD2005. It doesnt make any difference, although it probably wouldnt due to the fact that I had the same problem with 2005................until I unticked that dammm checkbox, which as I said isn't in AutoCAD2006. Typical! I feel hobbled!!!!!!
