line type doesn't update after change is made to the xref file

I have an xref file named Base.dwg. I need to replot a drawing (Overall_Road.dwg) which has Base.dwg as xref

I changed the line type of one layer in the Base.dwg file. Changed from DASHED2 to continuous line. Saved and closed Base.dwg

When I open Overall_Road.dwg, the line type doesn't update. I opened "Layer" window and under Linetype, it shows "Base|DASHED2".

How can I fix it to show the updated line type?

Thanks

I think you need to load the DASHED2 linetype into your "Overall" drawing.

I think you misunderstood. I DO NOT want DASHED2. I need continous to be the linetype however, after updating the xref file (Based.dwg) from DASHED 2 to continous, my drawing doesn't 'register' that. i.e. my drawing still show DASHED2 line type when the xref file has continous. Upon checking the Linetype via Layer of the Overall_Road drawing, I noticed instead of 'continous', "Base|DASHED2" is shown as line type.

I have a total of 10 drawings xref the same Base.dwg file. What changes (or fixes?) do I need in order for the correct line type to be shown on all 10 drawings? I have opened a few of the 10 drawings and each of them do not registar the change of line type in the xref file.

You are correct, I did misunderstand.

You can manually change the linetype for that layer to "Continuous" in each of the drawings, otherwise I think you have to change VISRETAIN to 0 for each of the drawings so the layer settings for the xrefs are reloaded.

I am not in autocad right now but do you not have to manually update the xref in the drawing to see the changes ?
