I have a dwg from another person and it in 3D. Can I take that and chage it to 2D and if I can how do I do it?

You can extract 2D views from 3D models in a variety of ways using AutoCAD 2012. Here are you five options:

 

1. Flatshot

2. SectionPlane

3. SolProf

4. SolDraw/SolView

5. ViewBase

 

Each has its own advantages and disadvantages.

 

I frequently use either Flatshot or ViewBase. You might want to read up on each, in your Help files, then experiment with them first.
