I've brought the pdf file nto AutoCAD, but how do I make it to scale. The file has dimentions that I can use as a guide (e.g. a wall that is meausred at 6'-0"). Can someone help me enlarge this file to be the propper dimensions? Thanks.

Try using the SCALE command with the REFERENCE option.

Measure th 6'-0" dimension in Autocad, (i.e. this dimension for simplisity is 2'-0"") devide the 6'-0" by the measured dimension(2'-0") 6'-0"/2'-0"=3. then scale the PDF drawing using a scale factor of 3, check the new dimension which should now be 6'-0". Note thjis is a simple calculation, you will find you will have an answer with many decimal places, be sure to use the full answer figure i.e. 3.12365789345

ALIGN command is way easier, imo. Match two points and select YES to the scale question at the end of the command.

I appreciate all that you have contributed to finding a solution for me, but, alas, I am afraid I am too blonde and can't figure this out. I clearly don't know enough about AutoCAD...I'm assuming this has nothing to do with the favt that I'm using AutoCAD 2007.... (although I would like to blame it on that.)

Nonsense. There are lots of commands and until you spend time using acad, the learning curve seems daunting. With 20+ years, I still learn new stuff and am reminded of things I long ago forgot. Thanks to everyone here for that !

In autocad, draw a line that is the same length as one of the dimensioned lines in the pdf.

Type ALIGN, select the edge of the pdf (should turn dashed). tap the SPACE BAR or right click.

Select one end of the pdf dimensioned line and then select the end of the autocad line. Then match the opposite ends of the lines.

tap the SPACE BAR or right click

type Y (for YES)

tap the SPACE BAR or right click

The pdf will rotate to and scale to real life (one to one)

How did you bring the PDF into AutoCAd 2007? What command did you use?

Murph, I first opened it up in Adobe Illustrator, then exported it from there as a DWG. Then opened it in AutoCAD 2007

I guess we all assumed you were trying to resize a PDF brought into AutoCAD using the PDFATTACH command. Instead you have a drawing already. Measure a known distance. Do the math. Use the SCALE command to scale the drawing up or down as the case may be.

Not sure how I did it, but I seem to have the file to the correct scale now. Many thanks to all in this community who have offered their time and help.

I already had this done by the time you posted, but here's how you likely did it if you used the SCALE command.

Once I saw the "2007" I assumed otherwise. 8)

Murph_map: ahhh, I love the smell of sweet savvy. (You guys really are terribly funny.) Now back to using my antiquaited AutoCAD 2007 and finish designing my elevations.
