David Devitt Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Hello, I am working in AutoCAD 2008 and was wondering if there is somehow a way (or trick, perhaps) to insert a pdf of a drawing into my AutoCAD 2008 drawing. Not counting on it but it sure would be nice if someone knew a way - Thanks! Quote
BlackBox Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I'm not sure when the PDFATTACH Command was introduced, but if that doesn't work, I used to Export/SaveAs the PDF to TIF, and simply insert, scale, and orientate the image to my site by ligning up the right of way corners or station ticks (back in Land Desktop 2006). pendean Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Use the camera/snapshot tool in your PDF viewer to capture the content then paste it into AutoCAD is another option. Quote
BlackBox Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Yes, pasting any screen shot or image capture is an option, however, by converting to TIF one has the added benefit of a transparent background, and being able to change the color of the line work shown within the TIF. Quote
iainlines Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 As other say, .TIFF is the way to go. Much nicer results Quote
jammie Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 You could also print your pdf's to dwf & attach the DWF as an underlay. You can do this using AutoDESK's dwf writer which is available free to download. My own preference would be to use a raster as it is generally more stable in a drawing file. That said, dwf underlays allow for snapping to nodes which can be useful for tracing Quote
