Hi,
My problem is I have to email a drawing to my sister. The drawing has hatches and to keep it looking reasonable, a dwf file seems to do the trick. My sister doesn’t have a program to view that file type. Is there any other file type that would be better and what and where could she download a program (free one) o:) to view the file.

She can download a free DWF view from Autodesk. http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=6101821

You could download a free PDF writer and she could use Adobe Acrobat Reader (Free download). I use PDF995 which can be downloaded at pdf995.com

Profcad,
Thanks for info,
I used Acrobat Distiller to convert to PDF but detail was lost, lines changed to stepped squares quite quickly when zooming in. Could I have changed some settings to sort the problem, PDF format would be handy for emailing other drawings.

What resolution are you using? I use 600 DPI to 2400 DPI. In AutoCAD, go to the page setup manager and select Acrobat Distiller as the printer then click on the properties button. For most of my drawings with a lot of hatch, I use 600 DPI and they print fine.

In fact, I had problems with the higher resolutions.

Profcad,
Distiller was set at 600dpi, I changed it to 1200 and it did look better. I was using the file for viewing on screen, I never tried to print it.
What it is, I do a few design options, the customer can view them and then make suggestion, (which should be sensible ones) and that should end up with a product that the customer is happy with.

I have the idea of an online viewing facility and the AutoDesk program is perfect for this.
Would there be a way to block the printing option, or would this be a VBA programming issue?

Another problem I have noticed is when you hatch it overlaps the boundary lines, this can affect the print quality when using colour hatches (I have just upgraded to colour two weeks ago) I use the hatches show different materials.
