OK, I'm a total IV10 newbie, so i"m stumped. I've managed to create a shaft with a keyway, a key, and a spur gear pair with a keyway that matches the key using the Design Accelerator. However, except for being able to align the gear bore hole with the shaft using an insert constraint, I for the life of me cannot figure out how to get the key and the keyway aligned so the keyway and the key are dead centered on each other- the gear face should be equidistant form the apex of the curved faces on either end of the key. It seems to me that there should be a simple way via imates to accomplish this - surely the keyway feature and the keys, both being iparts, were designed to work together?
Thanks for any and all help,
Mike
PS This is the exercise given as the last lesson on the TEDCF Assemblies and Advanced Concepts CD, "Generating Custom Features", where the Instructor leaves off by saying, "I don't have to tell you how to constrain these parts as we have already covered that topic." Harrumph.
