bleonard Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 i have been having issues with arch. 2009. i have almost fixed all the problems with the help of you guys of course. a little off course, the feed back on this forum is outstanding. now back to the problem. for some reason some of the functions don't seem to work right anymore. one of the problematic items is when i select a line the layer control window use to show what layer that line is. it doesn't anymore. it still shows the layer i am working on. another one is with the text. i use to be able to select the text, right click, then select text edit and fix grammatical errors. this completely disappeared. i inserted the text edit icon in the inquiry tool bar to fix this issue. another one is the mouse. i use the logitech mx performance and had it customized to the program, and none of it works anymore. i uninstalled the program reinstalled it with the patches, and it started working correctly for a couple days. while i was using it, i select a line (it works), i select another line (it doesn't work). i was thinking of maybe buying 2013, so my I.T. guy installed the 30 day trial, and it did the same thing. it is just weird to me that it works fine for so long and then bam, nothing but problems. no other program on the computer is acting up so i don't think (and hope) i a new computer, and the 2009 version is good enough for what i need. i thought i might have damaged the computer or the program by leaving it running, close the laptop, stick it in my backpack, and then into my truck which gets quite warm in the heat of the day (i don't do this anymore). i have learned how to work around most of the issues, but any feed back into this issue would be helpful. thanks a lot guys Quote
Tiger Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I'm sorry but your text is pretty hard to read, If I understand correctly you have three questions: 1: when i select a line the layer control window use to show what layer that line is. it doesn't anymore. it still shows the layer i am working on 2: i use to be able to select the text, right click, then select text edit and fix grammatical errors. this completely disappeared 3: another one is the mouse while i was using it, i select a line (it works), i select another line (it doesn't work) Correct? The only one I can take a shot at is number 3 - have you tried to change PICKADD to 1? Quote
ReMark Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I would wipe the drive and start all over. When you uninstalled the program did you follow the recommended procedure as outlined on the AutoDesk website? What OS are you running? What are the specs on the computer? Quote
bleonard Posted August 23, 2012 Author Posted August 23, 2012 its not really three questions as to just three of the different things that the program is doing. the I.T. guy said the same thing about wiping the drive and starting from scratch. i was just wondering if anyone has heard of these issues before. i am running windows 7 professional, and i just followed the installation it told me to. i don't really know any specs for the computer itself. the I.T. guy did install the 2009 on his computer and i opened one of my existing files and it did the same thing. could my files be causing the issues? i didn't think about it before but i could try wiping all dwg files as well as the programming and reinstall and see what happens then. ReMark Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 You don't "wipe" drawing files. Did you do a -PURGE and then an AUDIT of the file you are having problems with? Do the problems happen with just certain drawings or with every drawing you work on? There is a recommended procedure for uninstalling an AutoDesk program to guarantee a clean re-install. Did you follow the procedure or didn't you? Is your program up-to-date with all service packs and any applicable hot fixes? What are your computer specs? Is your OS 64-bit or 32-bit? What else have you done to troubleshoot any/all problems? It would make reading your responses so much easier if you capitalized the start of each sentence. And post a copy of the DWG file for one of the drawings you are having problems with so we can take a look at it ourselves. Thanks. Quote
