Useful Shortcuts

Can you share some of your shortcuts and functions that you use in autocad to save time in your drafting and to become more efficient?

One of the biggest time savers is creating TEMPLATE (.dwt) files, providing the numerous elements that you might use in the majority

of your files ............... layers, layer filters, dimension, text, multileader styles, drawing sheet, and just about anything else you use over and over again.

In that way every time you start a new drawing you hit the ground running, your base layers are named and visually styled, your dimstyles,

visual styles, table styles are ready to go. Save a drawing which has all the useful elements as a .dwt file, then set it as your QNEW default

template.

You should also take time to customize and save your WORKSPACE preferences, and review the OPTIONS settings and save a personalized PROFILE

incorporating those settings.

Those are just a couple of things, but if you haven't done them before, they will really improve your workflow and conformity between drawings. :)

Blocks on tool palettes. Big time saver.

Create a custom Ribbon with panels and commands that reflect how I work and the commands/features I use the most often.

I mapped 3d free orbit to the F4 key. Also learn the command line.

Easier still, hold down both SHIFT and your MOUSE WHEEL, and you are already in 3D ORBIT. :)

Whoops the OP is using LT, so I'm guessing 3D ORBIT might not be available.

Yeah Tiger MATCHPROP is a great command.

OVERKILL is also a really good one, you probably don't have it though in LT, not sure about that.

The LAYERS 2 toolbar, and LAYERWALK especially.

The QUICK PROPERTIES palette saves me tons of time, and is fully customizable.

Learn how to customise the menus you can have all the options you want on the screen without the 52 other options you dont need, save in your work space then you can jump to other workspace for options you dont use very often, check ACAD.PGP for keyboard shortcuts. Make your own keyboard short cuts for stuff like osnaps.
