greedy86 Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Morning gents, I've been pulling my hair out trying to solve this problem. Now....the original drawing was created in Inventor but i've never had such a problem before. I've been revising a drawing and to revise, i need to move a block 50mm from its original position. It's not allowing me to do so though. As soon as i select move...it goes into "not responding". I can't explode it either....i can explode everything in the model space and once....but this leaves all dimensions as lines arrows etc. I've even taken the same block into the drawing....and move/exploded it without any problems. In the properties bar....they are exactly the same except for the coordinates! The really annoying thing is....i can't even delete and replace as it keeps crashing! Grrrr! Does anyone have any ideas? PS there aren't any constraints either. Quote
ReMark Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Is the block in paper space? Is the block on a locked layer? Quote
greedy86 Posted September 10, 2012 Author Posted September 10, 2012 The block is in paper space and it is not on a locked layer. Very strange. Quote
ReMark Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 But you can bring the same block into model space and explode it? Quote
greedy86 Posted September 10, 2012 Author Posted September 10, 2012 Yes, it's very strange. We are at the end of our tether.....i think we've tried EVERYTHING! It won't even let us delete it and start again....it just crashes. Quote
ReMark Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 You can't delete the block from paper space without crashing AutoCAD? Where is the block needed? In paper space? Does it have to be exploded? Quote
greedy86 Posted September 10, 2012 Author Posted September 10, 2012 The block is in the model space. The block needs to be moved...but crashes every time you attempt to move it. So decided to try and explode it, in order to move it, and it won't explode either. It keeps on crashing the system when you try to do anything with it. Quote
ReMark Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 "I've even taken the same block into the drawing....and move/exploded it without any problems." It appears that your previous statement was false then. Can you attach a copy of the block to your next post? Quote
greedy86 Posted September 10, 2012 Author Posted September 10, 2012 The original block in the drawing is the issue. If i take in a duplicate of the block....i can do whatever i like with it. it's the one singular block in the drawing that's causing all these problems. I'm afraid i can't give you a copy of the block because i can't do anything with it, it'll crash when i attempt to copy. If i attach a copy of another of the same block...it has no problems, it's just like a block should be, lol. I've never come across anything like this before. Nor has anyone else in the drawing office. Quote
ReMark Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Leave the original drawing alone and start a new one. Bring a copy of the block into the new drawing instead. Quote
greedy86 Posted September 10, 2012 Author Posted September 10, 2012 The only way i could do that is if.... I made a new block and copied that into a new drawing. Which gives the same issue....by making a new copy (ie inserting a new block) the block has no issues and can be easily manipulated. It's only the one present on the drawing that is causing issues. ReMark Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 It's up to you. I'm sure you'll figure it out. Quote
CyberAngel Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 You might try the Recover and Audit commands on the drawing. Quote
greedy86 Posted September 10, 2012 Author Posted September 10, 2012 That won't work either i'm afraid. i've tired making a new drawing etc. For some reason....i can explode the block when i select EVERYTHING in the model space! Which isn't really an option as EVERYTHING is exploded. I've somehow managed to work my way around it. It was long winded but it'll do for now. Thanks for your help/advice though. Thanks Quote
ReMark Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 I'm pretty sure if we had a copy of the drawing someone here could have figured it out and maybe have decreased the workload in the process. Thank you for the update. Quote
Patrick Hughes Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Does the block in question contain a spline or an ellipse? Quote
