I learned to use autocad 2004 from taking a class at my local community college. obviously I didnt learn all of the program but i learned a lot of basics. now I have autocad 2007 and I only know how to use it in 2d form but its in 3d so how might I change that?

I'm not 100% sure on this but you might want to try looking under Tools, then click on Workspaces, and finally, select AutoCAD Classic. This should force AutoCAD to use the 2D drawing template called ACAD.DWT instead of the 3D template called ACAD3D.DWT. Can anyone else advise jcr5186 on this matter?

when I do that a sheet set manager comes up...thats it . also how would i change it to a black backround like autocad 2004 instead of the grid with a grey backround. any other way you know of to change to 2D besides autcad classic. that sounded like it would be right but just got the sheet set manager to come up. so i dont know.

It took a while to find but if you click on the link below you'll get a mini-tutorial on setting AutoCAD 2007 back to 2D or "classic" mode.

The link to this particular site was found at the www.caddigest.com website using a search on the number "2007". Hope it is of use to you.

You may wish to pay a visit to the AutoDesk Discussion Forums and specifically address your question in the forum for AutoCAD 2007. Maybe someone else has encountered the same problem.
