View Full Version : INSERTING AN XREF TITLE BLOCK

I am having trouble inserting my titleblock as an xref. The problem is that when I go to insert it, I can never find anything to snap to so that it is in the same spot on each sheet.

Do I need to create an insertion point on the TB? When I try and insert the TB my crosshair is offset from the lower left corner of the TB. How can I use the insertion point option? I didn't align my model up with any coordinates.

For now I am eyeballing each titleblock in place :(

Welcome, Brent! :-)

The BASE command sets the insertion point of any drawing -- if you put the lower-left corner of the titleblock at 0,0 in its drawing, and set the base point to 0,0, your crosshairs should show up right on the corner when you insert it. Even if the base point of the xref isn't 0,0, if you use the same coordinates each time you insert the titleblock (so the insertion points of all the xrefs are the same) they should all wind up in the same place.

Hope this helps -- if I've misunderstood your problem, let me know. :-)

sorry for the simple question, but how do I move to the 0,0 point in a drawing?

ok, figured that out, and now I have the TB at the lower corner each time. So now I insert it at 0,0 in the drawing each time?

EDIT:

OK, inserted at 0,0 in drawing and it is just outside of my printable area :x

still having issues :(

Its inserting just outside my printable area bounding box.

I have set the lower left corner of the TB to 0,0

I set the base of the paperspace of my model drawing to be just inside the lower left corner of the printable area.

I still can't get it to insert correctly.

Printing issues now?

I added to my previous post.

I have control of the TB at the lower corner now. I am inserting it into paper space of my model as an XREF.

I have a printable area box and the TB left side is alway outside of that. The whole TB is shifted to the left a bit.

Brent,

Setting the base of paperspace doesn't help you insert things into it. The BASE variable controls where things are when they're *being* inserted. Sorry if I'm confusing you. :-( Sounds like you've done everything you need to to the titleblock file, though.

What you need now are the coordinates of that point you described as "just inside the lower left corner of the printable area." When you know that, you'll know where to put your titleblock so it fits right. Type *those* coordinates in when you insert the xref.
