Selecting Multiple Items

Hi everyone this is the first time I have used these forum. My boss tried to use my computer this weekend to print up some plans and he managed to change the way I select items in cad. Let’s say for example I want to move a window and a couple walls all at the same time. I used to be able to click on each item individually, right click to close the command and than move the items to the desired location. Now it seems when I select an item and than another the first item becomes “unselected”. I must now use shift every time I need to click multiple things individually. Can anyone help? Please!
