Well 1st off look at dual-core cpus instead of dual cpu boards. AMD has released their new AM2 slot cpus and should be some of the fastest out there. A good rule of thumb..if you build an AMD powerd system use an nVidia based motherboard (nForce chipset) and use Intel motherboards if you run Intel chips.
Here is a good and not too expensive AM2 cpu motherboard -

Make sure it has these items no matter what you buy...
- PCIe graphics slot
- Dual channel DDR2 support (more than 2 slots as well)
- SATA support

damn that's a very nice mobo for the price... good brand too. get the fastest memory in your budget too, and SATA hard drives... Western Digital ONLY lol. those few components (besides the beefiest vid card you can get) are key factors in a smooth system to this point.

I liked that one too, only missing FireWire but those are cheap to add on and only if one needs it. I am not sure if AutoCAD benefits from SLi yet so I only listed a single PCIe slot design. Good call on the WD drive. Add to this a DVD drive and a DVD R-W drive and you are set.
