Icons scramble and/or not pointing to the correct command.

I have just noticed that on my standard toolbar, it seems that the icons have shifted and do not point to the correct command.

For Example, when I click on the "open" icon, the "new" command is executed (see the attached jpg. It is showing what text bubble comes up when I hover over the open icon).

Does anyone know of a fix for this?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Everything work correctly the last time you used AutoCAD or is this a new install?

Posted

Yes. Everything seemed to be working fine, and then one day I noticed it.

I don't remember anything out of the ordinary happening.

I just checked a few other toolbars that are opened. And some of the icons on them are scrambled also.

Did you shut down your computer entirely, reboot, start AutoCAD again and check?

Entire system has been shut down multiple times. I have been dealing with this for a while now and couldn't figure anything out on my own, so I decided to check on here.

You could try a REPAIR of the installation. What OS are you using?

Windows 7 OS. I had thought about the repair, but hoped there was another option.

I guess I will try that. Thanks for your help ReMark.

Sounds like someone pulled a fast one on you. I've never heard of icons changing of their own accord, someone must've modified your CUI.

Do you use any third party applications or custom LISP, VBA, etc.?

Try a restore point on the computer previous to when this began.

I just figured out the problem.

The Standard toolbar got jacked up somehow. the "QNEW" icon got added and cause the problem.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
