A New Contouring Algorithm Add On

Dear Firends,

I cannot provide too much information however I have got a problem to deal with, therefore I need your valueable information.

I was told about an addon that processes surveying data and specifically that addon was using an algorithm plotting contours "without producing a grid" unlike usual contour software, and asked to develop a program that directly prepares the contour plot of the data without gridding.

Do you have any idea what can be the addon or the algorithm?

I was discussing my problem with some wise guys around and as I believe, they think that the best way without making use of a grid is to construct a surface using the survey data and then plot the contour lines.

Another way I suppose is to use triangles and the most improtant question would be "which tirangle is the best triangle?"
