FTP Sites? among other possibilities.

I maintain a log of contracts/other info that need to be accessible by our other offices.

Someone suggested an FTP site, of which everyone else applauded, however, i told them that after every little change, the file would have to be saved and re-uploaded to the site.

Is there a program out there where I could make this particular log accessible to these other offices, without using a third-party/server? I would need to make this read-only to others; not necessarily real-time, but whenever i save it, they can utilize it asap.

I plan on asking our IT guy, but he's been in and out lately due to health problems.

It depends what type of data you have but it would seem sensible to maintain a webpage or website containing your information, that way others can have access to it. Password protecting a web folder is simple and if you use something like FrontPage, publishing an update is no more difficult that saving the file.
