I agree, I hate to see the state things are in these days. I have met friends from all over on this site. People from S.E. Asia, UK, Europe, Middle East, Africa and I must say that interaction with all of you has made my life richer and better and helped me see things from a different point of view. Just because we have different beliefs and ideas doesn't mean we can live together. I have no answers for what's going on in the Middle East, N. Korea and else where. I wish I did. I hate everyday hearing of the innocents dying around the world. My best to you all.

Yep! It's great to have a place where we can just leave our prejudices at the door. Any attempt to change that will be resisted and its credit to our moderators that this place is so level-headed.

That's just it. As a still new parent I try to tell my son (he's 6) that in life he will meet different people of different colors, beliefs and ideas and that this makes them no different from us. No matter what our beliefs are we still should honor and respect theirs. Treat everyone as equals and with respect. Seems such a simple concept but evidently hard to follow it seems

Well, to kind of expand on that thought, it's also very easy to hide behind a keyboard so to speak. Nobody knows who you really are when you're posting on a forum like this and you can pretty much say anything you want with little repurcussion. You might get banned from the site, or given a stern "talking-to" by a moderator, but little more will come of it. Say the same stuff to someone's face, and you better pray you have good health insurance! It's that whole anyone can be a badarse on the internet thing....and of course, anyone can access any site, so you don't know what kind of people they really are.

The supposed "Nice guy" could be a convicted criminal, and the "jerk" could be a 17 year old high-school honor student.

I think you have hit the nail squarely on the head with that statement. Having said that my experience here is that people are only too happy to welcome you and help you in any way possible, and the fantastic thing about it is that we have the brains and experiences of people from all over the world. It's great to see how similar or different things are in different places and all have a laugh about it.

Lomg may this board carry on it's good work.

Yes i have to agree with all the above statements.

however i would like to add a few more.... my personal experience with this board so far has been more than phenomenal. i have never in my years on the internet found a website that (1): has greatly helped and enhanced my advancement in AutoCAD and logically thinking through my career projects, and (2): has the most minimal, if ANY drama, or absurdity that 99.9% of forum boards offer. This forum consists of a very mature set of individuals that do not harp on you because you live somewhere, or don't know the answer to a problem no matter how simple in AutoCAD.

furthermore, most people know what you can and can't post here, within the unwritten laws which is nice, due to the freedom the internet lets you have. it's the stress-free environment that I absolutely love so much about CadTutor.net forums. That, my friends... is greater than gold.

You only have to look at the statistics for this site and compare the numbers from year to year.

I remember when i first found this iste, it was during the days of CADalog.com and some other cad forums. I had some rather brash replys on the other forums whcih made me do a search for other CAD forums and come across cadtutor by accident. I have learnt so much from the regulars back then and i can say, 3 years on, those regulars are still around on this site.

And Their attitude towards newbies to CAD have not changed. They are still happy to give feedback on the most basic of questions, and maybe give a different perspective on the problem.

That said, Its also the new members that continue to build the site to the great resource it is today.

Indeed. That's the biggest thing that I've noticed after being here only a short while. Just about any other forum that I've been to has had, at points, a really negitive feel to it. I haven't seen anything like that here, and many people are willing to selflessly help others! I normally don't stay on forums longer than a month or so, but I bet that I'll be active here for many months to come. Excellent work everyone :D

I think that is one of the great things about forums of this type. For the most part, stereotypes are generally left at the door. The 'net is truly color blind.

I think this is an interesting idea. How would all of us react to posts (both brilliant and moronic) if, say instead of our country they listed our colour and (somehow) our accent. I like how these forums strip us down to equals. I think some of us (maybe more than you think) would be surprised by how we treat people who we don't see but still communicate with.

And maybe we can learn more about ourselves through this and how we treat each other in the "real" world.
