View Full Version : My 3D steep learning curve!

I'm learning 3D at the moment.Its a bit daunting but as I understand the 2D interface its not too bad.Ive made objects by extruding polylines and importing materials then rendering them.Hey presto my model looks 3D,but the rendering is crap and dull and I cant for the life of me figure out how to use the lighting in AutoCAD yet!If someone could give my basic guide on rendering and lighting itd be a great help.When I look at all the options available I just dont know what each one is used for,I keep tweaking and changing them,to see what effect each has, but have no idea whats going on :)
Another problem I have is that you cant edit 3D models like you would a 2D object via the properties window! :( I was trying to stretch my model by moving the grips,but it doeswnt work.

Turning all lights to zero, ambient just on, then setting up one spotlight and then slowly turning up others is the way I do it.

I think you did send me a tutorial :oops: ,its on my work email,will look at it when I am back in the office.

Yeh just checked the zip you sent me, now Im back in the office, it was a mirror/material tutorial.Which I'll have ago at :) ,thanks again for that.

No worries. I'm just finishing off an EXTRUDE with profile wee lesson for my class tomorrow. I'll snail it to you or put it on the web with a link when I finish it.
