Im looking at getting to know 3DMax,to do some of my rendering in and maybe craete all my models in.I've not done that 3D in CAD but understand the basics to make models and render them and add shadows etc.Does anyone know of any basic tutorials that I can use to run me through the basics of 3D MAX?Once I know this it shouldnt be too bad, just wnat to get a feel and know where all the commands are I need etc.Alot of the tutorials Ive seen arent free though!

Check out 3dcafe.com, its the place to head if you want to get into max.
there are a ton of models, textures and tutorials there.
CGarchitect.com have a max discussion section to it,as well as some tutorials.
You thnk autocad 3d was steep, Max is not in anyway like Autocad.
But it is the autocad equivilant to the animation industry.

Yeah, fly thrus are cool if you are into architectural stuff.
I havent really looked into 3dcafe, only got texture maps for rendering.
You can do some crazy stuff if you have the time to "tweek" with the
settings and get the most of the program.
I did a three day viz course some time back, and viz has the same GUI
system as max, and it had my head in a spin by the end of it.
