I am just a beginner in 3d max, with no other knowledge on how to use it except for exporting and making basic objects. I am finding it very hard because the commands here is very different from autocad.
I also find the Help files "unhelpful"(sorry), unlike Autocad. And it doesnt show the location(on toolbars), or icons... I cant find them.
I have knowledge in Unigraphics so lots of commands are going through my head. (but im not going crazy heehee :bloodshot: ) Max and Unigraphics are very different.
I got some commands in my mind(obviously from Autocad) but i don't know what to do :( . Can you help me?
Here are some:
Join
Fillet
UCS(i want to move it. Can this be done here? What is it called in MAx?)
Rotate with base point
Thats it for now. Thanks! o:)

UCS wise there's not a lot to go on - you can change the direction of the axis by using the top drop down menu (view = view, local = current selected object orientation) however I don't think you can create an entirely new one. Have a look in the helpfile!
Rotate with a basepoint is a simple one - click on the object you want to rotate, then click the hierachy tab (right hand sidebar one that looks like a family tree) then click affect pivot only and change your basepoint.
If you explain what fillets and join are I'm fairly sure I can tell you the answers to those!

Just create a target camera and a path (a line or any other curve).
Now select the camera, go to the MOTION tab, click the TRAJECTORIES, click the CONVERT FROM button and pick the curve. It should work. Probable you will have to adjust the parameters -do it as usualy.
Now in the top plane right-click the word TOP, select VIEWS and click the Camera01. Play the animation and you will see it in the top plane. (You can choose any other plane, not just the TOP)
Good luck!
In the future please start a new thread if you have questions. We are melted in the discussion started by Spiderdian.
Thank you.

Join and Fillet are 'sub-object' commands for spline (line) objects. You have to select the line and then in the modify panel go into sub-object mode. Here there are a whole host of tools for editing vertices, segments and elements (parts of complex splines made from many). Max has a lot of functionality in these areas.
If you look at sub-object editing on the Key Fundamentals Tutorials (up soon) all is simply explained. So is rotating and moving pivot points. UCS is not an issue in Max as you operate in the 'real world' and do not have to change the system view. You can easily move the pivot point (origin in AutoCAD speak) to where you want it (often snapped to points on an object to rotate it in whatever way you need to)

Autocad UCS = Max Grid Object
grid object are helper tools that you can use...once it's active you will then need to use the view>grid>top/bottom/right etc which is similar to autocad's plan command...max has good info int he help menu about this subject...
