no scroll

(win xp/ Autocad r14) I just built a new computer and at first I had a rather cheap optical mouse. It worked fine, but would not scroll in autocad. So, I went and bought a microsoft wireless optical mouse with both horizontal and vertical scroll. It works great in all programs except autocad. Believe it or not in autocad the horizontal scroll works, but the vertical scroll does not...strange. The pointing device in "preferences" is set to current system pointing device.
I hope someone can help, this thing is driving me nuts, yes, I guess I'm spoiled :)

Well, I installed 2002 on my computer and now the mouse wheel zooms the dwg in and out, which is the way it's suppose to work. But, according to "help" you're suppose to be able to pan by holding down the wheel button and dragging the mouse, but that does nothing. The horizontal scroll does not work at all in 2002 (using mouse), but does in 14. Vertical scroll still does not work in 14.

Have you checked the standard windows behaviour in the tools-options box.You can also change the allocation of functions for the mouse,but I cant remember exactly how,maybe hole down the middle button?
