How do I draw a curvy cylinder?

Recommended Posts

Posted

Image taking a straight cylinder, and then arbitrarily bending and curving it.

Thus, resulting in a "curvy cylinder"

I'm a bit new to autocad. Any help?

ok, i just solved my own question:

1.) Create a curvy spline:

2.) Create a circle at one end of the spline

3.) Extrude the circle along the PATH of the spline

that'll work!!!

First. You tacked your question on to the end of a thread started by someone else. You should have posted it as a separate question in the proper forum.

Second. What do you mean by "how to unfold it"? A ninety degree bend sliced in half would yield two fourty-five degree bends. Is that what you are trying to achieve?

Third. I see you're using AutoCAD LT. Is that correct? If so, LT does have some limitations when it comes to editing solids.

Why am I the only one not understanding this!? *$ frustrating my friends....

Am I working on the wrong view here? Perhaps I am getting too far ahead of myself. Although I have been watching four different views at the same time trying the same things :(.

joe: What don't you understand? Mike says he extruded a circle along a "wavy" line. He could have said he extruded a circle along a straight line for all that it matters.

By the way, you tacked your comments on the end of another post when you should have posted a straight up question of your own.

What exactly do you need help with?

Maybe this will help. I've extruded a circle along a straight line and along a curvy line. I included a "before extrusion" and "after extrusion" for both examples.
