View Full Version : switch between dwgs

I have just put 2002 on my computer and have been playing around with it a little. One thing that I'm having trouble with is switching to different dwgs when I have 2 or 3 dwgs open at once. In r14 it would have the main program running once for each dwg and it was easy to switch using the icons on the taskbar, but in 2002 the dwgs are on top of each other and the only way I can get to the ones underneath is to minimize the top dwg. Isn't there a way for each dwg to have a tab at the bottom for easy access?
Thanks!!

Try to use the CTRL+TAB or/and CTRL+SHIFT+TAB combinations.

You can use the single drawing compatibility mode if you want and have r2002 work like r14 did. Look under Tools - Options - System tab and under general options. Good luck :)

Thanks!!! The "single drawing compatibility mode" is exactly what I was looking for. Sometimes I may have 5 or 6 open and it makes it very easy to go right where I want with one click.
Thanks Again!!

Glad it helped :) I actually still prefer this to many drawings open under 1 instance of AutoCAD.

how do you get the single drawing compatibility mode to be highlighted so you can turn it off? Mine acts like it is locked on, so I can see multiple drawings in one session.

Or type "taskbar" and set it to a diffrent number, 1 I think, that will have your drwgs as tabs on the taskbar.

the Taskbar feature does not exist in AutoCAD 2002. It was introduced in AutoCAD 2005.

Close all drawings but 1.
I would suggest downloading DocTabs from CAE-Link Corporation

I use this all the time. It installs a task bar and displays a small icon of yor open drawings, click on the one you want.

yep, i installed that last week and it's really a nice addition, instead of switching between the Window menu.
if it's just 2 drawings up, ctrl+tab always worked well, but the more you have up the better it is to have a tab view. VERY easy to install too.

I give this my full support. It works great. I was using ADT-05 at last job but now back on2004 and I missed the "Taskbar" command and this works just great :)
