Plot in paper space

Is there a way you can turn off the feature where you plot a small window and all of a sudden everything turns grey except the small window that you plotted.

As for the solution??? I have no idea.

Tools --> Options --> Display

Uncheck "Display Margins" and "Display Paper Background"

You might want to correct this in page setup instead. Go to Page Setup > Plot Device and enter the desired plotter. Then go to the Layout Settings tab and enter the correct sheet size. It is beneficial to have the grayed-area and the dashed-lines on the sheet-layout so you can see how your plotted area fits.

That only fixes it for when you want to plot the whole sheet -- if you just want to print a small part for mark-ups or whatever, and not end up with the gray, you have to use the Options.

If the model is the same 1:1 size as the plotter paper size then you would have no gray area. Graphic Designers call the gray area the 'paste area'.

Effectively it's a 'plot preview' of what you will get.

Of course 'SCALE to FIT' would give no gray area.

Go to your layout tab, right click, select "page setup", redefine your plot area (check "layout").
This should get your paper space view back to looking like it should.
Then next time you go to plot a small test plot, uncheck the "save changes to layout" box in your plot dialog box before defining your plot window.
