As some of you may know, I've been planning an upgrade of this forum for some time and have been actively working towards that aim for the past 6 months.
This announcement is to let you know that this forum will be upgraded to vBulletin over the comming weekend, September 2nd and 3rd 2006.
The forum will close at around 10am GMT on Saturday 2nd September and will open sometime before 10am GMT on Monday 4th September.
I have done plenty of tests and I don't forsee any major problems but it is a big job. However, you can help me by deleting any old private messages that you don't need.

I hope you'll be pleasantly surprised. I've done a lot of work on the skin for the new forum (I'm not that keen on the default vB style) and I've taken some of the phpBB elements I like and ported them over. Essentially, it is a totally new CADTutor style. :geek:

well, in all reality i LOVE the simplicity of the phpBB forums - in my opinion it's my favorite because to me - simplicity is key.
However, i know and love lots of the features that vBulletin have to offer. if you've spent this much time on it then i know we will all like it. can't wait, it's like Christmas, i'm anxious to see what will be revealed. haha

There is a new design for the forum (and the rest of the new site) - blue is still the predominant colour but it's a little different.
I'm sure you'll feel able to comment on the new forum once you see it

 Nice work.
I was thinking of placing an add in the New York Times but I'd have to sell the site to pay for it.

I don't like the new layout. phpBB style was good. This is annoying my eyes!!!

I've put quite a lot of work in making it look as close to phpBB as I can. Perhaps you can let me know what you don't like. Also, try out the vBulletin Default skin and see if you like that any better.

Well, CADtutor congrats I actually like it. it'll take some time to get used to it but it's worth to give it a shoot.
I personally like the quick reply it's something I was going to recomend you to add.
Finally remember that a book is worthy because of its content not because of how it looks like.
