Hello Camsec, a trick I use is to put background objects on a gray color layer say color 253. Then I print these objects with the pen 253 set to print at 253. I also isolate these objects and send them to the back via the object Draw Order commands. I'll try to find an example and post but it does a very nice job. Good luck :)

you could also use "screening" to wash out the colours during plotting

I have tried going into the layers and changing all layers to 254, except the layer that I am working on. In plot preview everything is gaey except for my layer. Unfortunately when I plot all layers are the same. Am I missing something in the plot set up?

Is grayscale on or off in the properties of the plot style table? Try on plot each way.

you could simply change to layers you want in the background to a lower lineweight and/or the layer you are working on to a high lineweight

Not sure what you are doing wrong but here is a cleaned up example of an elevation I did. Not sure if the small image will show the difference in the gray and black lines..............
